Enjoy the Beach in La Jolla!

San Diego County Beaches
The beaches of San Diego County are one of the most visited and most enjoyed "freebies" available here in paradise. From the long white sand stretch of San Onofre State beach anchoring the north to Imperial Beach in the south and hot spots like Pacific Beach residing in the middle, there are over 70 miles of these from which to choose from. We have included below a few of our "favorite" haunts, we hope that you find them as enjoyable & picturesque as we do.

San Onofre State Beach
Located just south of Orange County, San Onofre State Beach is stepped in surfing lore, offers great views and a nuclear power plant right in your backyard. There is also the opportunity for you to do some beachside camping. This state park offers a great drive in camping opportunities, and is close to major cities so if you like the feeling of getting away from it all without really being too far away then this is for you. The coastal bluff blocks all noise from the interstate, and offers an opportunity to endlessly stroll along a beach and forget your cares for at least a day.

Carlsbad State Beach
This is the "other" great beach in San Diego. In fact, it’s a great beach period. With a staircase descending down to the blue pacific, Carlsbad State Beach offers a beautiful and somewhat secluded beach to spend a day at. Once you get the feeling of "being away from it all", you can ascend the stairs and come back to the real world, and can within minutes be eating in a small café dreaming about your day.

La Jolla Shores
Located a bit north of the village of La Jolla, La Jolla Shores is one of the best family beaches in the county. With its full service facilities (i.e. Bathrooms) and close proximity to some great restaurants and watering holes makes this a beach for all ages. It also offers great sunset and walking options for those so inclined.

Mission Beach
Mission Beach has been made famous by MTV, and it still holds up as one of the most popular of all the beaches here in San Diego. Home to the "Giant Dipper" roller coaster, MB as its known offers all the thrills and excitement of any beach with some nightlife and people watching thrown in for good measure.

Coronado Beach (in front of the hotel del)
This is the ultimate family beach! Long white sand stretching off seemingly forever…gentle, rolling surf…fine dining and cold beverages at the hotel…golden California sunsets all can be had here. This is one of the oldest vacation spots in the city and has been drawing people here for over 125 years. Come and experience all that Coronado offers, as it is not to be missed.

Border Field State Park
Anchoring the southern most reaches of San Diego County, Border field State park offers a unique, albeit eerily quiet beach experience. This beach hugs the border fence that runs from the ocean to the hills in the east. This beach is well know as a premiere bird watching beach and as such offers no services of any kind. The Mexico side of the beach is full of activity, as it sits in the heart of Playas de Tijuana and is next to the Bullring by the Sea. Be prepared to see more Border Patrol agents than people on this trip.
